The study of toxic leadership, which is a form of destructive leadership, has intensified in recent years, as the results of its existence are destructive for both health-care organization and employees. The present work explores the relationship between toxic leadership and more specifically the toxic leadership triangle and the well-being of employees in the public sector. The toxic leadership triangle, which contributes to the existence of destructive leadership, is a theoretical model based on three factors, namely the leader, the subordinates (followers) and the conditions of the environment.

Single coronary artery is a rare anomaly that can be observed both alone and in conjunction with other congenital heart anomalies. A single coronary artery can lead to sudden cardiac death due to reduced myocardial perfusion. The incidence rate varies between 0.024% and 1% according to different sources. There is no significant correlation between the type of anomaly and angina symptoms.

Tobacco, a plant native to South America, has been known since ancient times. It was used by Cuban aborigines for entheogenic purposes, that is, they mixed it with other distorting substances to "get closer to the deities" during religious ceremonies, through hallucinogenic journeys. [1] Smoking arose clearly associated with development and industrialization. It is the cause of three million deaths per year, and the rate is increasing.

Colorectal cancers are common in both sexes. It is the third most common cancer in men and the second most common cancer in women worldwide. The frequency of colorectal cancer increases in direct proportion to age and this increase, which starts in the 40s, reaches its peak between the ages of 60 and 751. It is thought that 95% of colon cancers are caused by polyps. The incidence increases in direct proportion to age. The malignant potential of these polyps are related to polyp type, size and degree of dysplasia, as well as the number of polyps, age of the patient and follow-up period2,3.In colorectal cancer, a wide range of reactive oxygen radicals and increased cytokine levels have been found.

Breast pain (mastalgia) is experienced by ≤70% of women during their lifetime[1] and may be considered a physiological symptom rather like painful menses, but remains a common presentation in primary care. Despite an absence of evidence suggesting that mastalgia alone is associated with breast cancer, it is still commonly referred to secondary care breast units — in one study it accounted for 41% of referrals.

Mitral and aortic valve surgeries, necessitating open-heart procedures with cardiopulmonary bypass, mandate a comprehensive comprehension of the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying mitral valve insufficiency (MVI) and aortic valve insufficiency (AVI). This knowledge is indispensable for devising efficacious perfusion strategies during cardiopulmonary bypass. This narrative review seeks to transcend generalized perfusion paradigms by emphasizing the crucial role of ultrasound scans in delineating and optimizing cardiopulmonary bypass procedures for MI and AoI. The article underscores the significance of ultrasound in real-time monitoring of key perfusion parameters, specifically focusing on compromised vena cava, arterial resistance, and pulmonary congestion.

Chronic non-healing wounds present a substantial impact to the quality of life of approximately 2.5% of the United States population and pose a significant financial burden. The estimated Medicare cost projections for wound care was between $28.1 to $96.8 billion in 2020 alone [1]. Of these costs, up to $35.8 billion were associated with outpatient wound care costs. With the increase in incidence of chronic non-healing and complex acute wounds due to conditions such as diabetes, pressure ulcers, and vascular deficits, it is becoming increasingly important to develop a gold standard treatment and agents to facilitate effective wound healing [1].

Pilonidal disease involves an under the skin infection near the gluteal cleft and the only definitive treatment is full surgical excision. Still, surgical excision is associated with a high rate of complications and there is significant debate on the benefit of primary versus secondary closure. Kerecis™is a fish skin derived acellular dermal matrix product that has shown promise in promoting the healing of complex wounds, but its application in wound closure in pilonidal disease has not yet been studied.

Thrombophilia disorders are linked to an increased risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) during pregnancy. Antiphospholipid syndrome and factor V Leiden are examples of thrombophilia diseases that can be acquired or inherited. Both are related to VTE, although acquired diseases can raise the risk of arterial events. In Lebanon, this disease is rarely addressed in the field of research. A cross-sectional study on Lebanese women aged 18-40 found that hereditary thrombophilia increases the risk of venous thromboembolism and adverse pregnancy outcomes. The study, which included 1000 participants, aimed to highlight the association between thrombophilia and maternal venous thromboembolism and adverse pregnancy outcomes.
