Abstract

Psoriasis is a chronic, non-contagious, inflammatory skin disorder that is often characterized by the rapid multiplication of skin cells, leading to scaling and itching. It is an autoimmune disease and can be localized or generalized. This paper focuses on a 17-year-old female patient suffering from chronic psoriasis for 5–6 years presented with severe symptoms that hindered her daily life. She had visited 10-15 doctors with no lasting relief, until she sought treatment at Dr. Batra's homeopathy. After homeopathic treatment, she experienced 90% improvement, both physically and emotionally.

Introduction

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory condition that occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy skin cells, causing them to grow too rapidly. This leads to the characteristic patches of raised, red, scaly skin. The disease can be localized or affect larger areas, and it is often exacerbated by stress, infections, or environmental factors such as cold weather. Homeopathic treatments focus on addressing the root causes, including physical, emotional, and immune system factors, offering a holistic approach to managing the disease.

Case Profile

A 19-year-old female patient presented with complaints of intense itching and scaling all over her body, with skin shedding and cracks. The cracks caused bleeding, particularly during movement. This condition had persisted for four years. The patient experienced relief when cold water was poured over the affected areas. Her symptoms worsened with air drafts, at night, during sleep, and especially in winter. The patient had stopped attending school due to her skin condition, and no other major complaints were reported.

Mental Generals

The patient reported feeling neglected by her family after her skin condition developed. She believed that her family favored her brother over her, which caused emotional distress. She became easily offended and experienced feelings of isolation, as her family seemed to neglect her needs. Over time, these emotional burdens led to a lack of emotional connection with her family and friends. While sharing her complaints, she was prone to crying, which reflects the deep emotional pain associated with her condition.

Physical Generals

Past History

At the age of 10, the patient had Typhoid fever, which was treated with Ayurvedic medicine and fully resolved.

Family History

Mother: Had similar skin complaints but is now cured.
Father: Diabetes.

Discussion & Conclusion

Homeopathic treatment focuses on treating the person as a whole, considering both mental and physical symptoms. In this case, significant emotional trauma related to family neglect and the physical symptoms of psoriasis were addressed using Pulsatilla Nigricans. This treatment not only improved the skin condition but also restored the patient's emotional well-being, allowing her to regain confidence and resume a normal life.
