Pakistan is one of the second largest youth populations in the world. Foreign experts sid this is the major asset for a country to grow up in this modern world. The absolute number of the youth population in the Pakistan is about 58 million. In 21st century many developed countries such as South Korea, japan and china have decline in youth population due to late marriages. Today’s Pakistani youth is facing many problems in terms of unemployment or high inflation in recent 08 years. As many as 6.3 million individuals are unemployed in the country, with the youth aged 15-24 having the highest unemployment rate in 2024-2025. During the year 2024 July about 390,119 Pakistanis migrates to abroad for the purpose of employment.

The unemployment directly affects brain and its normal functions. Depression is a common brain disorder in the Pakistan and globally. Mental health problems are different from other diseases. Other diseases such as hepatitis, diabetes, heart or kidney problems are very easy to diagnose. Through biochemical reports we can easily check the body functions of some infectious or metabolic diseases. But for mental health problem such as depression or something else this is not easy to diagnose on time and for a person this is very difficult to accept that either he is facing a depression. When a mental health situation become worse, an individual become realize that now he is not very well. He is going through many biochemical testing’s but all results are fine except hb (hemoglobin) levels.

Depression affects mood, behavior, memory, relations, social contacts, stomach and sexual problems. Headache is very common is depression and sometime long lasting. Headache may be 2 or 3 times in a week. Depression affects both brain and body. In my opinion to treat depression by three ways

  1. Through advanced medicine
  2. Care your lovely ones
  3. Give respect and maintain equality

The developed world already worked on human rights and maintained equality in every field of life. In Pakistani society the quality of life is not as good because of inflation and unemployment as I discussed earlier. I think at present financial problem and inequality is the major problem for depression and other psychological problems.

Few months ago a recent survey in Pakistan told that every third individual is involved in brain disorder. It means 82 million people are suffering from depression. There sign and symptoms and severity of this disease may vary from each other. The life of a depressed people is different and difficult from a normal people. Only medicine is not the proper treatment of depression because quality of life is also important. Quality of life includes good job, house environment, good friends and a person should be wealthy.
